Below are screen shots showing the configuration. Refer to the Table for instructions on configuring these screens. Please note that the network information and TCP/IP addresses given in this Technical Note are for example purposes only and should not be used for connecting to our router.
RouterWindows95 TCP/IP Properties and the LAN with router.

The purpose of this technote is to show how to input IP addresses in order to connect PCs to router from LANs. The type of addressing our Router is using, Static determine how to set the TCP/IP Properties.

Background:
You have to configure Ethernet workstations with a Manual (static) address.

Configuration:
Go to the Windows Network Control Panel/ Configuration tab. Double click the TCP/IP Protocol icon or highlight TCP/IP and click the Properties button. If you have more than one network adapter installed, select the TCP/IP icon that is bound to the desired adapter, Ethernet based Adapter. The property tabs that you will be concerned with are: IP Address, Gateway, and DNS Configuration. Each of these screens is shown below.

The radio buttons offer two choices:
1) "Specify an IP address"
Choose this button. You are using Manual (static) addressing, enter a valid, unused IP address from your network and the Ethernet Subnet Mask as configured in the Router. You must also configure the Gateway and DNS Configuration Tabs.

The values for hotel stella LAN are:
IP Address: 192.168.1.142 were 42 is the room number, 12 for # 12 41 for # 41......
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

2) "Obtain an IP address automatically"

Enter the Ethernet IP Address of the Router in Stella hotel. This address is 192.168.1.1

DNS Configuration Tab

Make sure that "Enable DNS" is selected. Then enter a name (Host) for your computer if it is not already there.
In the "DNS Server Search Order" section, add the Domain Name Server addresses supplied to you by our Internet Service Provider 80.10.246.2 and 80.10.246.129. Click OK to close the TCP/IP Properties and Network windows. Restart the computer in order for the new settings to take effect.
