TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol) is the set of rules (protocols) used to connect hosts on the Internet. This guide shows you how to configure your Mac so that you will be able to access the Internet through our LAN.

Assumptions:

  • You are running Open Transport.
  • You have Built-in Ethernet, or a third party Ethernet card and its associated drivers installed in your Macintosh.

Step-by-Step Configuration:

  1. Go to your Apple Menu. Select Control Panels and then TCP/IP.
  2. With the TCP/IP window open, go to the Edit Menu and select User Mode. Choose Advanced and click OK.
  3. In the TCP/IP window, select or type information into the fields as shown in the following table.

    Option: Select/ Type:
    Connect Via: Ethernet
    Configure: Manually
    IP Address: 192.168.1.142 (42 is the room number, 41 for # 41, 11 for #11.......)
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router address: 192.168.1.1
    Name server address:
    Implicit Search Path:
    Starting domain name:
    80.10.246.2
    80.10.246.129

  4. These are the only fields that you need to modify in this screen.
  5. Close the TCP/IP Control Panel and Save the settings.
